My Narrative

I have been learning to write a narrative. A narrative is a story when a person has a problem and the fix it. I really enjoyed thinking of all the ideas. It was challenging to write down all my ideas in  small amount of time. My next step is to have my narrative more detailed.

My Reflection
I have been learning about a moment in time.
I found this easy because I had a strong idea of what I was going to write about.
Something I could do to improve is extending my vocabulary to find much more interesting words.
My next step is to use the power of 3 more often in my writing.

Author Purpose

My Reflection I am learning to make deep thinking about a topic like, asking questions. I found finding the answers tricky because the answers were all over the place so, getting the answers was a bit tricky. My next step is to have more deeper thinking into the questions.

Alphabet Symmetry Challenge

 My Reflection
I am learning about lines of symmetry. I was able to recognize all the lines of symmetry in the letters of the alphabet.I found this easy to do because some of the letters were obviously not symmetrical,or they could look more like a shape than a letter - and shapes are usually symmetrical.

My Speech 2019

My Reflection

I have been learning to write a persuasive speech. I found reading out my speech challenging because I got a bit stage fright. Something I learnt is how to use PEEL paragraphs. I found it terrifying to present my speech to the class but I felt relived when I got over it. My next step is to use PEEL paragraphs.

Converting fractions

 

I was learning to convert fractions to improper or mixed fractions.

I had to add fractions together and then write them in a mixed or improper fraction lay out.

I thought it was easy because I have done mixed and improper fractions before.

My next step is to work on subtracting fractions.

My Reflection
We have been learning about Matariki. I was surprised that people say kites represents the seven sisters. I still wonder if the seven sisters is a legend.

All About New plymouth

I have been learning to write an information report. An information report has a beginning, middle and an conclusion. It needs to include facts and written in third person. I found this easy because I´ve been to New Plymouth before. My next step is to use words that relates to the topic.

We are starting to a new novel called Holes by Louis Sachar. This is my prediction about what I think the story is about.

I have been learning to find and summarise information by choosing the most important information. Summarising is when you take all the important information and make it into a smaller sentence. I found this interesting because I didn't know that Lorde's name was so long! I found summarising the information easy because I know what it is. My next step is to find more information.

Statistical Investigation

I have been learning to use the statistical enquiry cycle to carry out an investigation. My investigation was about languages. I was so surprised that only one person can speak Chinese.
I found getting the data most challenging part because the room was so crowded.
I now know how to use google sheets.
I am not sure about how to use google forms.
My next step is to make a deeper conclusions about the data. 

Using Prior Knowledge And Experience To Understand Text

I was learning to respond to a text using my prior knowledge and experience.
I found this easy because I looked at the back of the book.
My next step  is to use more prior Knowledge to answer the questions.
